ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that yesterday he had offered his resignation to prime minister Nawaz Sharif over the Supreme Court’s report on the Quetta hospital carnage but the premier refused to accept his resignation.
He disclosed it while talking to reporters at a Press conference here on Saturday.
A report by an inquiry commission under the Supreme Court leveled charges against the federal interior minister, the Baluchistan chief minister and home minister for providing misleading information about a deadly terrorist attack on August 8 in Quetta which claimed 70 lives and injured 112 people.
In that incident, a powerful explosion ripped through Civil Hospital in Quetta when Baluchistan Bar Association President Bilal Kasai's body was being brought to the emergency department. Kasai was gunned down in a targeted killing earlier that day.
The federal minister said that he had read the report of the Supreme Court’s commission in newspapers and no official but personal charges were leveled against him.
He asked how a one-sided report came up without getting his own views on the incident.
